Culture, community and territory
Fundación Marimbea was established in Colombia in 2023 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to community strengthening, artistic training and creation, cultural circulation, and the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage together with Afro-descendant communities in the southern Colombian Pacific.
An ecosystem with history
The Foundation builds on the methodological, territorial, and relational experience previously developed by the founding team of Marimbea S.A.S., maintaining a clear separation between that social enterprise's commercial activity and the nonprofit cultural and community projects carried out by the Foundation.
For that reason, projects prior to 2023 are presented as background of the team and the Marimbea ecosystem, always identifying the entity that carried them out.

Community strengthening
We work with a community-led approach: organizations, knowledge-bearers, and territory leaders decide and lead the processes.
Training and artistic creation
Music, dance, oral tradition, instrument-making, and cooking as pathways for learning and collaborative creation.
Heritage safeguarding
We support the intergenerational transmission of the intangible cultural heritage of the southern Colombian Pacific.
Cultural circulation
We open stages, networks, and opportunities for artists and knowledge-bearers to circulate within and beyond the country.
Where we work
Mainly with Afro-descendant communities in Tumaco, Guapi, Timbiquí, and Barbacoas, connecting artists, knowledge-bearers, young people, and cultural organizations.
